Job summary

SandboxAQ seeks a Staff Materials Research Scientist to bridge generative chemistry with external validation partners in the PFAS team. You will own the partner validation loop, run discovery workflows, rank candidates for experimental validation, and translate feedback into concrete improvements.

Apply semiconductor domain judgment to ensure workflows are directionally correct and comply with process realities and environmental, health, and safety constraints.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 6+ years of post-PhD experience in industrial or applied R&D for semiconductor process chemicals.
• Experience discovering or evaluating PFAS-lean/PFAS-free alternatives.
• Knowledge of semiconductor unit processes and qualification criteria.
• Ability to translate experimental results to computational requirements and vice versa.
• Proficiency in Python and collaboration with ML and simulation teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the partner validation loop with external co-development partners.
• Run the discovery workflow, assess compounds for plausibility and fit, rank candidates for validation.
• Apply semiconductor domain judgment to validate outputs against process constraints.
• Translate experimental feedback into concrete improvement points for the team.
• Align targets across internal teams including datasets, computational chemistry, ML, and modeling groups.
