Job summary

SandboxAQ seeks a Senior Materials Research Scientist to bridge generative chemistry with external validation partners. You will steer the PFAS-substitution workflow, assess predicted compounds, and rank candidates for experimental validation.

You will translate partner feedback into actionable improvements and ensure alignment with process constraints, EHS specs, and manufacturing realities. Remote, full-time position with equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of post-PhD experience in industrial or applied R&D developing materials.
• Proficiency in Python to run discovery workflows and interpret outputs.
• Experience bridging experiment and computation with external partners.

Responsibilities

• Support the partner validation loop with day-to-day scientific contact and target specs.
• Run the generative chemistry workflow, assess predicted compounds, and rank them for validation.
• Translate experimental feedback into concrete technical improvement points.
• Bring domain judgment to validate workflow outputs and lead molecules against constraints.
• Align targets across internal teams and manage collaboration with datasets and ML groups.
