Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking a Principal Material and Process Engineer to join the M&P team, supporting multiple product lines on site. The role focuses on material tests, analyses, production hardware empirical testing, and new product integration with cross-functional support.

Lead material evaluations, collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program teams to resolve design and producibility issues, and apply data‑driven approaches to material selection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in STEM with at least eight years of relevant experience.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and technical datasheet interpretation.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Experience leading technical teams or serving as a technical lead in a rapid manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of material characteristics, material application, and material design selection.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and identify materials and processes based on program specs and performance requirements.
• Participate in design teams to select and approve materials usage and substrate finishes for new programs.
• Serve on rapid response teams addressing factory manufacturing process interruptions.
• Lead supplier material troubleshooting issues and ensure timely resolutions.
• Collaborate on analyses and report documentation on alternate materials, obsolescence, and failure analyses.
