Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking a seasoned Materials & Processes (M&P) engineer to own materials and processes for launch vehicle fluid systems. You will qualify materials, develop specs, and lead statistically-driven improvement campaigns across design, test, and production to enable reuse and mission success.

You will collaborate with materials, lab, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive robust, scalable solutions, while maintaining schedule and cost targets and advancing Terran R

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science or engineering.
• 7+ years of relevant materials and processes experience (leveling is flexible).
• Experience with general M&P activities: material selection, process development, qualification, damage tolerance, inspections, risk assessments, and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Be the cognizant M&P engineer of launch vehicle fluid systems.
• Qualify fluid system materials and processes for flight and reuse.
• Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards.
• Drive statistically-driven experimental design and process improvement campaigns.
• Interface with materials engineers to identify and fill critical technology gaps.
• Coordinate with laboratory staff to characterize materials and processes.
• Support materials selection, design and analysis, qualification, failure analysis, flight, and reuse with fluid system engineers.
• Work with manufacturing engineers to develop processes, troubleshoot issues, and enable cost & rate while maintaining performance.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and supply chain to ensure subcontractor reliability.
