Job summary

Apex is seeking a Materials and Processes (M&P) Engineer to lead metallic materials choices and associated manufacturing processes for spacecraft, propulsion, and flight-support hardware. You will define material requirements, guide design trades, run analyses, and build a materials database, validating decisions through prototypes and flight hardware qualification.

Qualifications

• U.S. Persons status is required
• Bachelor’s in mechanical, materials, physics, aerospace, or relevant engineering
• 10+ years of industry experience demonstrating a strong foundation in materials science and engineering principles
• Engineering experience with qualifying typical Aerospace metallics (aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, castings, forgings, additively manufactured metallic hardware)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Capable of managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own material selection, qualification, process requirements, design guidance for aerospace metallics
• Develop and maintain an Approved Metallic Materials and Processes List
• Support engineering requirements to develop or select parts, materials, processes, manufacturing tech
• Assist in supplier qualification and respond to technical inquiries
• Coordinate and support lab activities (metallography, hardness, tensile, NDT/NDI) and compile test data for interpretation
