Job summary

Emerson Electric Co is seeking a Materials Manager to lead material flow, inventory management, procurement, planning, scheduling, warehousing, and shipping to ensure on-time customer order fulfillment. The role partners across operations, finance, and supplier networks to optimize inventory and drive continuous improvement.

The candidate will manage a team of buyers and planners, oversee warehouse and logistics, and collaborate with finance on standard cost rolls while promoting ISO compliance

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a related field is required or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in procurement, BOMs, production planning and cost-saving coordination.
• Experience with ERP and MRP systems within manufacturing.
• Experience leading, coaching, or coordinating teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze material consumption and usage to support inventory optimization and compliance with guidelines.
• Partner with buyers, planners, and suppliers to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Support forecasted customer demand while balancing service, investment, and operational goals.
• Lead and develop a team of buyers and planners with clear direction and growth opportunities.
• Monitor fill rate, inventory reduction, and backlog reduction objectives.
• Oversee warehouse, stockroom, shipping, receiving, and logistics for efficient material flow.
• Coordinate physical inventory activities and champion accuracy initiatives.
• Implement and improve cycle counting programs.
• Manage inventory replenishment strategies (MIN/MAX) to support production goals.
• Partner with Finance on annual standard cost roll activities.
• Drive processes that increase efficiency and remove non-value-added activities.
• Collaborate with planners and buyers to optimize internal and supplier kanban programs.
• Support quality management systems and ISO procedures.
