Emerson is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Planner to manage the Master Production Schedule, release work orders, and synchronize materials with production priorities. You will partner with Engineering to implement substitutions and ensure BOM accuracy to maintain smooth manufacturing operations.

The role requires strong MRP knowledge, BOM experience, and Excel proficiency, with a focus on fast-paced, cross-functional collaboration across Customer Care, Engineering, and plant leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
  • Experience with Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and inventory transactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Analytical, organized, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, maintenance, and execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Review and release work orders based on production priorities and schedule requirements.
  • Validate readiness of work orders including BOM accuracy and material availability.
  • Coordinate with Customer Care, Engineering, and customers to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement approved material substitutions with Engineering during shortages.
  • Monitor work orders through the production lifecycle from release to shipment.
  • Address aging WIP by root-cause analysis and timely actions.
  • Balance material availability, labor capacity, and production priorities with leadership.
  • Verify material issues, completions, backflushes, and inventory movements before closing orders.
  • Communicate priorities, shortages, risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders.

Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Review and release work orders in accordance with production priorities and schedule requirements.
  • Validate work order readiness prior to release, including bill of material (BOM) accuracy, routing accuracy, material availability, and availability of required subassemblies.
  • Review order requirements for completeness and readiness, coordinating with Customer Care, Engineering, and customers to obtain missing information, clarify technical requirements, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Engineering to identify and implement approved material substitutions when shortages or supply disruptions occur.
  • Monitor and manage work orders through the entire production lifecycle from release through shipment.
  • Actively manage aging WIP by identifying root causes, driving corrective actions, and ensuring timely order completion.
  • Partner with manufacturing leadership to balance material availability, labor capacity, and production priorities.
  • Verify all material issues, completions, backflushes, subassembly transactions, and inventory movements have been properly processed before closing work orders.
  • Communicate production priorities, shortages, schedule risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Interact with all levels of plant and corporate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as required.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, production planning, materials planning, scheduling, or supply chain experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
  • Experience working with Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and inventory transactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Previous experience with Oracle ERP.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM preferred).
  • Experience in a make-to-order or mixed-mode manufacturing environment
