Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. seeks a Materials Lab Technician to support the Materials & Process team in San Diego. The role involves fabrication, modification, assembly, and testing of laboratory and manufacturing equipment, plus data collection and analysis.

You will conduct material testing of composites, work with high heat and solvents, and may guide other technicians. A DoD security clearance is preferred; an associate degree with experience is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent with seven or more years of experience.
• Ability to operate lab and test equipment.
• Experience with composite lamination and preparing test panels.
• Knowledge of ASTM standards and R&D specifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates composite panels to ASTM standards and R&D specs.
• Operates specialized lab and experimental equipment; collects and summarizes data.
• Performs material testing on composites including physical, optical/microscopic and mechanical analyses.
• Work with minimal supervision in lab and manufacturing environments.
• May provide guidance to other technicians.
