Amphenol Industrial Operations in Endicott, NY, seeks a Senior Materials Engineer – R&D/Engineering to lead material selection, failure analysis, and data-driven design optimization for connectors and interconnects. You will partner with design, simulation, testing, sourcing, and manufacturing to drive material innovations, qualify new materials, and support qualification through production.

This role requires travel and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical or Polymer Engineering or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred; minimum 10+ years in materials engineering or R&D, preferably supporting electromechanical or connector products.
• Experience guiding product development from concept through qualification and production.

Responsabilités

• Lead material research, evaluation, and selection for metals, polymers, elastomers, coatings, and surface treatments.
• Collaborate with design, simulation, testing, sourcing, and manufacturing to optimize materials for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Define material test plans, qualification criteria, and root-cause analysis for failures.
• Document material selection rationale and support DFMEA, reviews, and customer requirements.
• Partner with global teams to standardize material data and enable digital engineering initiatives.
