Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a Sr. Engineer in Materials to provide technical cognizance of analytical methods in the Metrology laboratories and support off-site operations.

The role requires collaborating with MTC and MDA personnel to inspect, calibrate and repair shipboard components and test equipment. The candidate will ensure calibrations are performed with traceability to NIST, maintain laboratory standards, develop calibration procedures, and conduct quality

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Physics engineering.
• 5+ years of post‑graduate engineering experience.
• Willingness to travel, off-shift work and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight for inspection, calibration and repair of shipboard components and lab equipment.
• Develop and document manual and automated calibration procedures; ensure NIST traceability.
• Perform quality assurance audits and drive improvements to eliminate recurring errors.
• Interface with shipyard and other organizations to resolve methods and problems.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
