Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking an experienced Materials Engineer/Metallurgist to join the North American Engineering team in Arden, NC. You will serve as the lead materials and metallurgical expert, working with OEMs and cross-functional teams to deliver durable material solutions that meet performance and timing requirements.

The role requires a BS in metallurgy with 5+ years in metallurgical development, including castings and high-temperature materials, and strong problem-solving and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in metallurgy or related field required.
• 5+ years metallurgical development experience with ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• 3+ years with castings and high-temperature materials required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct metallurgical testing and failure analysis.
• Advise on material specifications, processes, and castings.
• Lead metallurgical studies for turbochargers, fans, and related components.
• Collaborate with OEMs, engineering, quality, and purchasing teams.
