Job summary

Unusual Machines, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Material Planner to ensure the right products and materials are available to support manufacturing and e-commerce demand.

You will bridge purchasing, material planning, and inventory management in a fast-growing hardware environment. In this role, you’ll forecast demand, procure materials, manage POs with domestic and international suppliers, and maintain ERP/MRP data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in manufacturing purchasing, materials planning, and/or supply chain roles.
• Strong analytical skills interpreting data, forecasts, and production requirements.
• Experience with inventory planning, forecasting, and purchase order management; strong supplier relationships.
• Proficiency in ERP or MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, or similar).
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; pivot tables and lookups.
• Know-how of inventory concepts (safety stock, reorder points, demand planning).
• Excellent communication skills and supplier coordination abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple SKUs, suppliers, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage demand forecasts based on historical data and production schedules.
• Plan and execute purchase orders to maintain optimal inventory.
• Analyze material requirements across product lines for alignment with schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, quality, and order accuracy.
• Track inbound shipments and resolve delays or disruptions.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery with suppliers; manage relationships.
• Optimize inventory turns and minimize stockouts.
• Identify risks and mitigations from supplier constraints.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, marketing, and logistics.
• Suggest cost reductions through alternate sourcing and value engineering.
• Provide reporting on purchasing, inventory levels, and supply chain performance.
• Continuously improve purchasing and planning processes.
