Position Title: Senior Material and Process Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Material and Process Engineer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead technical development of suppliers to increase technology readiness levels of key materials and components for the core of the reactor.
- Develop material and process specifications for vital, specialized materials (e.g., HT9, Grade 92, nickel-base alloys, austenitic stainless steels) and product forms (billet, bar, rod, wire, heavy-walled tube, small diameter tubing).
- Collaborate with prospective and current suppliers to define material and process specifications, and advise the design team on component drawings/specifications to ensure product performance aligns with design requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support supplier selection activities through requests for proposals (RFPs) and review/selection processes.
- Provide direction and oversight of supplier projects, working with contract administrators and project engineers to ensure timely delivery of data and other required deliverables.
- Coordinate technical reviews of supplier deliverables and ensure appropriate responses.
- Assist with supplier audits in accordance with ASME NQA-1-2015 standards.
- Design and execute test programs to evaluate manufacturing variability effects on material properties and performance.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years with a Master’s degree. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, including fabrication and thermomechanical processing of ferrous (e.g., ferritic-martensitic steels) and nonferrous (e.g., nickel-base) alloys.
- Proven skills in developing requirements specifications, defining supplier technical scopes, including development of SOWs, RFPs, and providing technical oversight of supplier projects.
- Experience working within stringent quality systems (e.g., NQA-1, ISO-9001, AS9100) is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of reactor plant design and related systems; experience with sodium-cooled fast reactors is a plus.
- Ability to work independently to solve challenging problems.
- Position level and title will be determined based on qualifications.

- Pay Range: $72-$90/hr
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens, Legal Permanent Residents, or of protected status due to export control regulations.
