Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Mates for our U.S. flag fleet. The Mates are senior shipboard officers responsible for safe vessel operations and representing the company as professional leaders on inland and coastal routes.

Mates report to the Captain and bring hands-on piloting experience on coastal and river waterways. They supervise deck teams, develop piloting skills, and make prudent decisions to reduce risk while delivering five-star guest service.

Qualifications

• U.S. Coast Guard Mate’s license: 100 GRT min with Near Coastal endorsement; 1,600 GRT preferred.
• TWIC required.
• Mate with coastal/river waterways experience: min 2 yrs, 5 yrs preferred with Z-drive experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Operate vessel in compliance with standards.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Supervise, lead, and develop deck officers.
• Coordinate cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
• Lead crew orientation, training, watch standing, and drills.
• Collaborate with Hotel Officers and Service Crew for guest service.
• Document cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
