Job summary

Guy Smith Home Services in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Master Electrician / Residential Electrical Project Manager to own complex home projects from planning to completion and mentor the electrical team.

This hands-on leadership position requires reviewing plans, coordinating permitting with Dominion Energy, and ensuring work meets the National Electrical Code while delivering safe, high-quality results on schedule.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Master Electrician license required.
• 5+ years of residential electrical experience.
• 3+ years of leadership, supervisory, foreman, or project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems and the National Electrical Code.

Responsibilities

• Lead residential electrical projects from initial assessment through final completion.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade residential electrical systems.
• Plan and oversee panel replacements, service upgrades, meter-base upgrades, dedicated circuits, rewiring, and other major electrical projects.
• Install and oversee whole-home generators, transfer switches, surge protection, EV chargers, lighting systems, and related residential equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical plans, specifications, and job scopes.
• Coordinate permitting, inspections, and utility requirements for electrical projects.
• Communicate with Dominion Energy and utility designers for service upgrades.
• Complete and manage permit documentation to meet code requirements.
• Mentor and train electricians and apprentices through hands-on coaching.
• Explain electrical issues and project requirements clearly to homeowners.
• Maintain accurate project notes, estimates, photos, permits, and required documentation.
