Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Data Engineer, Market Data on the Institutional Markets team. You will build and operate real-time market data systems, from feed handlers to distribution layers, enabling low-latency trading across Coinbase's platform.

You will design high-throughput services, improve reliability with observability, and collaborate with engineers and product managers to advance the institutional trading roadmap.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience with low-latency systems.
• Hands-on work with market data infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ and low-latency messaging.
• Familiarity with market data protocols (FIX, ITCH/OUCH).
• Experience shipping features end-to-end in production.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain market data components including feed handlers, normalization, and distribution.
• Design low-latency services for real-time market data.
• Improve reliability through observability and incident response.
• Write high-quality tests and contribute to engineering standards.
