Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and operate real-time market data systems with low latency for institutional trading.

You will own feed handlers, normalization, distribution, and venue connectivity to power trading workflows across the platform. In a remote-first environment, you will drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements while applying AI thoughtfully to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cost.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience building and maintaining production low-latency systems.
• Experience with at least one area of market data infrastructure (feed handlers, normalization, or distribution).
• Familiarity with low-latency Java (or C++) and high-throughput messaging frameworks.
• Knowledge of venue/exchange connectivity and market data protocols (FIX, ITCH/OUCH, multicast).
• Track record shipping features end-to-end and operating what you build in production.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain market data components including feed handlers, normalization pipelines, distribution systems, and venue connectivity.
• Design and implement low-latency, high-throughput services for real-time market data used by trading systems across the platform.
• Improve reliability and performance through observability, on-call participation, and incident response.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and contribute to engineering standards on a lean team.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver market data capabilities supporting Coinbase's institutional roadmap.
