Job summary

Hawaii Stevedores, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable supervisor to coordinate ILWU workers across all phases of stevedoring operations. You will direct crews at shift starts, organize gangs, and maintain strong labor relations to meet customer cargo needs.

The role requires experience in port operations, strong safety compliance, and the ability to manage reports and vessel schedules. A background in maritime operations is preferred, with the ability to work irregular hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Maritime operations, or related field such as Business preferred.
• 5+ years of related marine terminal operations experience employees required.
• 1+ year experience supervising staff; supervision of union-represented employees strongly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of port practices and ILWU labor contracts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office at basic level (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of ILWU workers in stevedoring operations and provide tactical work direction.
• Organize and structure gangs to execute operations plans.
• Supervise relations with union and non-union labor to ensure cargo is managed per customer needs.
• Develop vessel schedules, production, payroll-related, safety and other reports.
• Coordinate with customers, shippers, stevedores, agents, and vessel staff for efficient, safe loading.
• Review and report cargo vessel production and hand off to incoming supervisors.
