Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Marine Pipe Welder to support U.S. Navy ship modernization aboard multiple vessels in Hampton, VA. You will weld diverse piping systems, interpret NAVSEA specs, and ensure quality in a demanding shipboard environment.

The role requires at least 8 years of shipboard welding, proficiency in TIG and flux-core processes, ability to obtain U.S. Secret clearance, and mentorship of junior welders. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of shipboard pipe welding or related industrial welding experience.
• Proficient in GTAW (TIG) and FCAW (Flux Core) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and shipboard piping systems.
• Experience with MAF Lokring fittings and NAVSEA standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret NAVSEA specs, blueprints, and process sheets.
• Fabricate, fit, modify, repair, and install piping systems aboard Navy vessels.
• Perform welding using GTAW, FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW per NAVSEA standards.
• Install and maintain MAF Lokring fittings per manufacturer specs and Navy requirements.
• Prepare pipes, weld, inspect, hydrotest support, and restore systems.
• Fabricate pipe supports, hangers, penetrations, and hardware.
• Support production leadership by troubleshooting issues and ensuring quality.
• Mentor junior welders and assist with planning and QA.
