Job summary

Stantec is seeking a senior structural engineer specializing in marine and waterfront design to support our New England transportation practice. You will manage and technically lead teams on complex waterfront projects for public and private clients.

Ideal candidate brings a PE license in New England and at least ten years in marine structures, with strong leadership and collaboration skills. The role requires occasional travel and a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum of ten years of relevant structural marine and waterfront experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in a New England state with ability to obtain licensure elsewhere within 6 months.
• Experience leading staff and mentoring engineers.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Experience with MathCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM, MS Project, and structural software such as CSI Bridge, Shoring Suite, and Optimoor.

Responsibilities

• Performs marine and waterfront structural engineering assignments at varying levels of complexity.
• Oversees planning and design work at key project stages.
• Mentors entry- and mid-level engineers and provides technical guidance.
• Analyzes complex problems and proposes alternative solutions.
• Leads preparation and coordination of project deliverables and contract documents.
• Reviews and seals project deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Performs technical and quality reviews and applies procedures for continuous improvement.
• Coordinates with clients, agencies, and others to determine requirements and approvals.
• Manages project budgets, invoicing, and financial performance via PM dashboards.
• May write and negotiate proposals with clients or reviewing agencies.
