Location

This position will be based out of our Houston, TX office.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a Senior Marine Structural Engineer as part of the Marine & Coastal Resiliency design team on pursuits and projects, including:
  • Perform, review, and oversee structural analysis and design for marine structures.
  • Develop detailed construction drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy of design deliverables (reports, drawings & specifications, etc.).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction.
  • Help identify design risks and assist with risk mitigation planning.
  • Act as a facilitator of collaboration with construction teams during the design phase.
  • Perform project coordination and management of selected engineering projects.
  • Mentor and lead engineers in their technical development.
  • Contribute to MCR technical proposals.
  • Support the development of the MCR engineering team by building internal tools and processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent. A master’s degree is an asset.
  • 12+ years’ experience in structural engineering of marine structures such as piers, floating docks, sea walls, wharfs, and mooring dolphins.
  • Experienced in performing a berthing & mooring analysis and design of marine fenders.
  • Familiar with marine terminals operations.
  • Experience with project delivery models that include working directly with the contractor is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer P.E. license required.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in English, proficiency in Spanish or French is an asset.
  • Efficiency, autonomy, initiative, and ability to prioritize.

  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
