Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a Principal Marine Structural Engineer to lead complex coastal and waterfront projects from our Los Angeles, CA office. The role requires 10+ years of hands-on experience and a PE license, with a focus on durable marine infrastructure and client leadership.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support business development through proposals and client presentations while traveling as required.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years (15+ preferred) of direct engineering experience in marine structural engineering with bulkheads, docks, harbors, or shoreline protection.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or LARSA.
• Strong understanding of materials used in marine environments (steel, concrete, timber, composites).
• Experience in wave, current, and load modeling for marine structures.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Group leadership, mentorship, and proposal support experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME for structural design of marine infrastructure (bulkheads, wharfs, docks, breakwaters).
• Conduct structural analysis, modeling, and design for stability and regulatory compliance.
• Support project teams through planning, design, construction, and maintenance phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop sustainable solutions.
• Lead and review calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical growth.
