Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join the Structural Team in Baton Rouge, LA. You will design hydraulic and nearshore marine structures and collaborate with industry leaders across multiple offices.

Responsibilities include analysis and detailing of steel and reinforced concrete, foundation design, and project documentation. Hybrid/remote work options may be available at company discretion.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years (7+ preferred) of design experience in a professional setting.
  • Experience in design and detailing of steel connections and reinforced concrete.
  • Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete hydraulic structures.
  • Experience in the design and evaluation of commercial waterfront structures.
  • Experience in inspection and condition evaluation of structures.
  • Ability to sit for the NCEES 16-Hour Structural Engineering exam within two years of hire.
  • Knowledge of structural design software (RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, GSA).
  • Knowledge of CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Experience in construction sector or with contractors/CMs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment and meet deadlines.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis, design, and detailing of structural steel and reinforced structures.
  • Modeling, analysis, design, and detailing under hydraulic, geotechnical, coastal, and marine loads.
  • Design and detailing of work platforms, bulkheads, piers, wharves, dolphins, and hydraulic structures.
  • Foundation designs including deep/shallow foundations, piles, mats, and footings.
  • Structural value engineering, design review, and risk assessment for water resources projects.
  • Prepare technical documents: reports, calculations, memos, specs.
  • Contribute to scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
  • Conduct condition assessments, surveys, field investigations, and inspections of dams, levees, floodwalls, marine structures.
  • Coordinate with CAD Designers on contract plans and construction documents.
