Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a Principal Marine Structural Engineer to lead coastal projects from the West Coast offices and national teams. Focus on designing bulkheads, wharfs, docks, and breakwaters with emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and innovative solutions.

10+ years of marine structural experience, PE license, and proficiency in SAP2000/STAAD/LARSA are required; SE license preferred. 30–50% travel and mentoring junior staff offered, with hybrid work options nationwide.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of direct marine structural engineering experience, focusing on bulkheads, docks, harbors and shoreline protection systems.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software SAP2000, STAAD.Pro or LARSA.
  • Strong understanding of materials used in marine environments (steel, concrete, timber, composites).
  • Experience in wave, current and load modeling for marine structures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SME input for design of marine infrastructure projects and supervise structural calculations, drawings and specs.
  • Lead and review project work across planning, design, construction and maintenance phases.
  • Support business development through proposal writing and client presentations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote technical growth.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to present design concepts and project updates.
