Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in Houston seeks a Senior, Engineering Applications Engineer to design, test, and support advanced engineering software within the Digital Class framework. You will lead projects and collaborate with Engineering, IT, and clients to drive innovative solutions and maintain ABS standards.

The role requires strong engineering analysis, coding, and data analytics skills, plus excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Completion of an engineering or computer science degree (B.S. or equivalent) from a university.
• 5 years of relevant engineering and/or software development experience in shipyards, marine design/consulting, shipping/oil, CAD or software companies, or a classification society.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve Engineering Applications.
• Lead or participate in Engineering Applications development or support teams, delivering on schedule and within budget.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Technology, and IT and other departments on planning, design, development, testing and maintenance.
• Maintain good relations with customers and users of Engineering Applications.
• Develop and propose new Engineering Applications projects; provide expert advice on technology and rules.
• Collect user feedback and industry trends to propose features and solutions for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System.
• Perform selected engineering analyses.
• Report to a Director/Manager or project lead and collaborate with other organizational elements.
