Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping is seeking a Senior Engineer I to lead engineering staff on assigned programs, plan and supervise design reviews and analyses for complex projects, applying broad engineering knowledge and cross-functional coordination.

You will mentor engineers, ensure high-quality work, and support the development and application of ABS Rules, while preparing client communications and maintaining professional standards of safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil/Structural/Naval Architecture/Ocean Engineering; MS preferred.
• Minimum of five years related engineering experience for new hires.
• Professional or chartered engineer license for Hull or related roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership of Engineering staff and assign projects.
• Monitor progress and ensure high-quality service and client relations.
• Advise staff and provide training; review work and quality.
• Develop and change Rules; apply Rules and Regulations.
• Prepare written responses to clients and liaise with internal/external specialists.
