Job summary

Marquette Transportation Company, LLC in Paducah, KY seeks an experienced marine engine room engineer to maintain and repair vessel systems, oversee engine room operations, and support safe, compliant towboat service. You will regularly inspect engines (EMD, Caterpillar, Cummins), supervise maintenance, participate in dry-docks, and ensure logs and safety protocols are followed on river routes.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of EMD 645, EMD 710 or Caterpillar 3600 series main engines preferred.
  • 5+ years engine room experience preferred.
  • Experience on river towboats with 4500–10000 HP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment aboard the vessel and its tow.
  • Oversee and maintain engine room tools and equipment.
  • Keep detailed logs of engine hours, fuel transfers, and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor engine room performance (EMD, Caterpillar, Cummins).
  • Participate in dry-dockings, major repairs and overhauls.
  • Supervise transfer of fuels, lubricants, and bilge per procedures.
  • Repair vessel engines, generators and other critical systems.
  • Maintain engine room cleanliness and safety compliance.
  • Follow vessel transfer procedures and US Coast Guard regulations.
