Job summary

Caterpillar Marine in Lafayette, Indiana, seeks a Marine Application and Installation Senior Engineer to provide expert technical support for our marine engine platforms. You will drive OPACC via pre‑sales support and act as a technical consultant to dealers and internal sales, with NPI/product development involvement, manuals, and training responsibilities.

Occasional global travel, strong collaboration with customers, dealers, shipyards, and the sales team, and a focus on cost‑effective

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent) in an accredited marine, mechanical or electrical engineering or technologist curriculum.
• 5+ years relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with design and/or application of engine and/or generator products.
• Marine industry or dealer power systems experience in a technical support role.
• Prior dealer/customer facing experience.
• Experience with Pro/e and Teamcenter, SAP familiarity.
• Engine system knowledge including cooling, lubrication, fuel, air, and exhaust.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and pre-sales support for Caterpillar branded marine engines to dealers and customers.
• Collaborate with dealers, shipyards, operators, and owners to apply diesel engines across vessel types.
• Communicate product specs to sales and provide technical assistance to enable sales.
• Support product development with customer input and NPIs, optimizing installations for cost effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain application/installation manuals, pricing, and technical communications; train dealers and customers.
• Travel infrequently to support sales opportunities, dealer training, shows, audits, and field issues.
