Job summary

Blue Origin’s Honeybee Robotics in Colorado (Longmont) seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer III to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures for high-volume machined components and motion control products.

Work at the interface of design engineering and production operations to drive quality, cost efficiency, and schedule performance, applying Lean principles and collaborating across quality, operations, and design teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience in aerospace/defense/high-precision manufacturing
Experience providing formal DFM feedback on machined drawings
Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and interpretation of tolerancing
Hands-on design of production fixtures and work-holding solutions
Familiar with CNC, turning, milling, EDM, surface finishing

Responsibilities

Review drawings/models and provide DFM feedback to reduce cost and cycle time
Provide make/buy recommendations based on capability and cost analysis
Suggest cost-reduction opportunities through materials or process changes
Lead design reviews from manufacturing perspective (PDR, CDR, production readiness)
Review drawings for GD&T compliance and initiate drawing changes
Design and develop production fixtures, assembly aids, inspection fixtures, and tooling
Maintain tooling inventory and calibration schedules
Develop manufacturing process plans and work instructions
Apply Lean principles to reduce cycle time and scrap
Collaborate with quality, operations, and design teams to resolve issues
