Job summary

Protingent Staffing seeks a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to support a high-visibility development program for next‑gen automated logistics platforms. You will define test architectures, bring‑up hardware, and build automated test tooling using Python on Unix systems.

The role involves setting up embedded Linux test stations, analyzing production logs, and assisting offshore contract manufacturers during critical build phases. 25% travel to Asia is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Firmware Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing test engineering, electrical design validation, or embedded systems testing.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Unix/Linux shell scripting for test automation, data processing, and command‑line execution.
• Proven experience reading schematics/block diagrams, setting up embedded Linux stations, provisioning network test environments, and debugging physical test fixtures.
• Direct experience using common test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, meters) and debugging hardware interfaces (serial, bus, network).
• Willingness and capability to travel internationally to manufacturing sites in Asia (e.g., Vietnam) for on‑site factory bring‑up (less than 25% travel).

Responsibilities

• Define test architecture from schematics and block diagrams, establish test plans and pass/fail limits.
• Develop Python and shell scripts to build automated test tooling and debug test station workflows.
• Configure and provision test PCs, embedded Linux environments, networking, and fixtures on-site and at factories.
• Analyze test data and logs to identify root causes and track resolution metrics.
• Perform hands-on board debugging, probe signals, and analyze serial, network, and bus traffic.
• Create detailed test documentation and station user guides for operators and engineers.
• Support offshore contract manufacturers with travel to factory bring‑up and test validation.
