Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Manufacturing Systems Engineer Level 5 in Sunnyvale, CA. You will develop requirements, perform planning, integrate manufacturing systems, and evaluate costs and risks across all phases of production readiness.

You’ll lead DFMA and DTC studies, optimize flows, and work with cross‑functional teams to meet program goals while pursuing continuous improvement and cost reduction. A Secret clearance is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM discipline with a minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience, or Master’s with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years.
• Minimum 5 years experience interpreting, developing, and approving engineering drawings and/or schematics.
• Minimum 5 years experience with mechanical assembly, machining, and/or fabrication manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with cross-functional organizations (Program Office, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Field Operations, etc.).
• Experience using Microsoft Office Applications (Power Point, Project, Excel Pivot Tables, V-Lookups and analyzing large data sets).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Propose and optimize manufacturing processes, assembly features, and tooling to reduce time and cost.
• Develop efficient manufacturing process flows and optimize production area layouts.
• Recommend continuous improvement initiatives and new capital equipment.
• Perform DFMA studies and provide implementation recommendations.
• Conduct DTC assessments while maintaining performance.
• Collaborate with IPTs to meet program goals.
• Lead technical projects including planning, scheduling, resource and cost management.
