Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Level 3 based in Sunnyvale, CA. The position is full‑time onsite and supports a marine propulsion development program through concept, preliminary and final design.

Position Overview
The role involves integrating manufacturing input into the design of steam turbines, valves, linkages, couplings, reduction gears, ancillary equipment, shipboard tooling and manufacturing tooling. The engineer will provide manufacturability, cost, and schedule perspectives to the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Responsibilities
- Propose new or improved manufacturing processes, assembly features, methods, and tooling fixtures to reduce manufacturing time and cost.
- Provide input to develop efficient manufacturing process flows, sequences, and production area layouts.
- Recommend manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives and new capital equipment for efficient production processes.
- Perform Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) studies on new product development initiatives and provide recommendations.
- Perform Design‑to‑Cost (DTC) assessments of new and existing products while maintaining performance.
- Integrate with and support the IPT consisting of Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, and Global Supply Chain to meet program goals.
- Provide full‑time day‑shift support (5 days per week).
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience with mechanical assembly processes.
- Experience in continuous improvement.
- Experience in technical writing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Experience with propulsion and power plant machinery or building large equipment structures.
- Experience with GDT control plan development and execution.
- Experience with a modern ERP system.
- Manufacturing equipment, product testing and facility operational experience.
- Experience leading technical projects requiring project planning, scheduling, resource identification, and financial management.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).
- The application of Lean Six Sigma principles on low‑volume, high‑mix processes.
- Experience with installation of new equipment and/or processing in a highly controlled environment.
- Experience with materials and heat treatment of materials.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for high‑value gearing and steam turbine assemblies, machined components, and welded fabrications.
Compensation
- Salary range: $103,600.00 – $155,400.00 annually.
- Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and in some cases long‑term incentives.
