Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain daily, weekly and long-range production schedules based on orders, forecasts and inventory.
  • Adjust schedules in real time for equipment issues, material shortages, or staffing changes.
  • Monitor WIP and ensure jobs flow through production on time.
  • Plan capacity and load-level resources to avoid bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to confirm job readiness and resolve conflicts.
  • Coordinate with procurement and inventory to ensure material availability for schedules.
  • Communicate schedule changes promptly to stakeholders and attend daily meetings.
  • Maintain production data in ERP/MRP systems (IQMS) and validate BOMs and routings.
  • Generate production reports and schedule dashboards.
  • Analyze scheduling performance and recommend process improvements.

Position Summary

The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the production schedule to ensure efficient workflow, on-time delivery, and optimal use of labor and equipment. This role works closely with Operations, Procurement, Inventory, Quality, and Customer Service to balance demand with capacity while minimizing downtime and delays.

Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Create and maintain daily, weekly, and long‑range production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory requirements
  • Adjust schedules in real time to accommodate equipment issues, material shortages, quality holds, or staffing changes
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and ensure jobs move through the production cycle on time
  • Plan capacity and load‑level production resources to avoid bottlenecks
Coordination & Communication
  • Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Leads to confirm job readiness and resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Work with Procurement and Inventory Control to ensure material availability for scheduled jobs
  • Communicate schedule changes promptly to all stakeholders
  • Attend daily production meetings and provide schedule updates and KPIs
Data & Systems Management
  • Maintain accurate production data in ERP/MRP systems (IQMS)
  • Review and validate work orders, bills of materials (BOM), and routings for accuracy
  • Generate and distribute production reports and schedule dashboards
Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze scheduling performance, including adherence, cycle times, and production delays
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance throughput and reduce lead times
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S and value stream mapping

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods while working at a computer, attending meetings, or reviewing production status
  • Walking throughout the facility to observe operations, coordinate with staff, and monitor workflow
  • Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) occasionally
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, mouse, and office equipment
  • Visual acuity to view computer screens, schedules, reports, and production paperwork with clarity
  • Hearing and verbal communication ability to effectively engage with employees, supervisors, and cross‑functional teams in person and via phone or radio
  • Ability to climb stairs as needed to review production lines or equipment layouts
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed at a desk with regular visits to the production floor
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment may include:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when entering designated production areas
