The Production Scheduler at Shin-Etsu Silicones of America develops and maintains weekly production schedules to balance customer requirements with available materials, labor, and capacity. You will ensure on-time deliveries while maintaining appropriate inventory levels of finished goods and intermediates.

Proficiency with ERP systems, especially Oracle, and strong organizational skills are essential to manage constraints and optimize throughput in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a production scheduling, planning or similar role strongly preferred.
  • Oracle or other ERP system experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and schedule new customer orders based on due dates, materials, capacity, labor, and existing commitments.
  • Create and publish weekly production schedules for manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and plan production to maintain finished goods and intermediate materials.
  • Evaluate material and capacity constraints and adjust schedules to minimize disruptions.
  • Prepare production packets including batch cards, labels, and documentation for each order.
  • Enter completed production transactions into the ERP system accurately and timely.
  • Monitor schedule attainment and compare actual performance to schedule.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing & Inventory, Quality, Customer Service, and Sales to resolve scheduling issues.
  • Identify orders likely to miss due dates and communicate potential delays.

Job Summary

The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that balance customer requirements with available raw materials, labor, and machine capacity. This role ensures orders are scheduled to meet customer-requested due dates while maintaining appropriate inventory levels of finished goods and intermediate materials.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and schedule new customer orders based on requested due dates, available raw materials, machine capacity, labor availability, and existing production commitments.
  • Create and publish weekly production schedules for manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of minimum stock levels of finished goods and intermediate materials and plan production to maintain inventory levels.
  • Evaluate material and capacity constraints and adjust schedules to minimize disruptions and maximize production efficiency.
  • Prepare production packets, including batch cards, labels, and other documentation required to run each production order.
  • Ensure production documentation is accurate, complete, and available prior to the scheduled production run.
  • Enter completed production transactions and quantities into the ERP system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor schedule attainment and compare actual production performance against the established schedule.
  • Work with Production, Purchasing & Inventory, Quality, Customer Service, and Sales to resolve issues affecting production schedules and customer deliveries.
  • Proactively identify orders that are likely to miss the customer's requested due date and communicate potential delays to Customer Service and Sales.
  • Follow all QMS procedures and work instructions. Support quality audits and investigations as needed.
  • Serve as back-up for other Production Schedulers in the department.
  • Work overtime as needed, sometimes with little to no notice, to ensure the continuous production of material.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience
  • High school degree or GED required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a production scheduling, planning or similar role strongly preferred.
  • Oracle or other ERP system experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good computers skills and ability to utilize related computer software.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capable of a proactive approach in order to identify or eliminate potential problem areas.
  • This position operates primarily in a professional office environment.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment.
