Job summary

Boston Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead quality on the Atlas manufacturing floor in Waltham, MA. You will own non-conformances, drive 8D CAPA projects, and coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve defects and improve first-pass yield.

The role requires hands-on floor presence, strong electromechanical understanding, and collaboration with Supply Chain, Build, and Reliability teams. Competitive compensation and robust benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 3–6 years in manufacturing quality engineering with shop-floor experience.
• Proficient in 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC for electromechanical systems.
• Experience triaging non-conformances, MRB workflows, line containment on the floor.
• Able to read drawings, GD&T, and specs for non-conformances.

Responsibilities

• Floor Support & Triage: provide daily floor support to technicians and build leads, triaging issues in real time.
• Root Cause Management: drive structured RCA and lead CAPA projects for defects.
• MRB & Non-Conformance Ownership: lead MRB, disposition non-conforming hardware to minimize downtime.
• In-Process Quality Controls: implement containment actions, floor-level gates, and inspection standards.
• Cross-Functional Execution: coordinate with Design, Reliability, and Ops to assign ownership and track actions.
• Process Standardization: update work instructions, SOPs, and checklists based on RCCA outcomes.
• Metrics & Trend Analysis: track FPY, defect trends, and CAPA cycle times.
• Escalation & Communication: interface between floor and engineering to elevate blockers.
