Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks an onsite 2nd shift Manufacturing Operations Supervisor for the Surface Mount (SMT) area in Melbourne, FL. Lead and supervise daily SMT manufacturing, coach a team, align schedules with materials, engineering, quality and maintenance to meet safety, quality and delivery goals.

Requires a University Degree with 5+ years' experience (or advanced degree with 3+; or 9 years without) and 3+ years supervisory manufacturing experience; SAP/ERP and

Qualifications

  • University degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 3+ years, or 9 years of experience without a degree.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily SMT manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Coach and develop manufacturing employees and foster accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with Materials, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics to resolve production issues.
  • Drive quality compliance and monitor production performance using data analysis to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support automation and digital transformation.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead and supervise daily manufacturing operations in Surface Mount (SMT) production area, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Manage, coach, and develop manufacturing employees while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor production schedules, prioritize work, and optimize workflow to meet customer commitments and operational objectives.
  • Drive quality compliance by ensuring manufacturing processes, documentation, and products meet established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Materials, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics teams to resolve production issues and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Monitor production performance through data analysis, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, process optimization, waste reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Support manufacturing innovation initiatives, including automation, digital transformation, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to resolve production concerns and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies while supporting employee engagement and operational excellence.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Utilizes CORE principles, a driver of improvement.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Proven success developing and leading a team.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, automated environment.
  • Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Proven ability to facilitate difficult conversations and communicate early, and concisely with individuals at all organizational levels.
