Job summary

WD is seeking a Manufacturing Manager in California to lead a 30–45 person team in wafer production, coordinating between manufacturing, maintenance and engineering to drive throughput and quality.

You will resolve tooling or process issues, mentor operators and leads, and implement Lean practices while ensuring staffing, training, and performance reviews. This role offers exposure to high-volume, real-world semiconductor manufacturing at scale.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of semiconductor wafer manufacturing processes and logistics.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control systems and rules.
• Familiarity with Mitec’s, Camstar or similar Shop floor Control Systems.
• Ability to extract, summarize, interpret and present process data.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles and DMAIC processes.
• Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Project Management applications.
• Strong leadership qualities and problem solving.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate between manufacturing, maintenance, process and equipment engineering teams to plan and improve downtime, process efficiency and production of high quality wafers.
• Resolve tooling or processing issues and implement changes as directed by engineering groups.
• Improve throughput and risk mitigation for the manufacturing line while maintaining quality.
• Manage a department of 30 to 45 reports and provide leadership to shift operators and leads.
• Maintain oversight of the production process and drive problem resolution.
• Plan staffing and training to meet production and non-production schedules.
• Identify and drive resolution of problems that could impact output or quality.
• Monitor tool performance and react to out-of-control situations.
• Address performance issues and provide timely coaching and reviews.
• Promote Lean manufacturing concepts across the line.
