Job summary

Located in Franklin, PA Komatsu America Corp. seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Technician to drive reliable global manufacturing processes and support SAP-based programs and fixtures.

You will document processes, create 3D drawings, develop work instructions, and lead cross-functional training across sites to improve cost, quality and lead time. A BS in mechanical/industrial engineering or 10–15 years' manufacturing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred or 10-15 years manufacturing experience.
• Written communication skills.
• Ability to express manufacturing concepts conversationally face to face, over the phone and in email.
• Ability to work with people on a manufacturing floor with a productive, non-combative nature.

Responsibilities

• Manage global process related to SAP programs and burn profiles; manage databases of fixtures (in SAP).
• Record manufacturing processes for fabrication and machining of parts; document global procedures.
• Lead training of operators at global KMC sites and suppliers in new tooling or fixture use.
• Create work instructions for processes; engage manufacturing, quality, and engineering with limited supervision.
• Create routers using fabrication and machining standards; understand manufacturing capabilities at each KMC location.
• Cost parts using fabrication and machining standards; plan production in house or with suppliers.
• Design welding, machining and assembly fixtures to reduce cost and lead time and improve quality.
• Support DFMA by engaging with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.

Job Overview

Key Job Responsibilities

This role will work directly with both domestic and global manufacturing locations to drive reliable and consistent manufacturing processes as it directly relates to manufacturing programs and global manufacturing engineering processes.
Manage global process related to SAP programs and burn profiles, specifically the management of global databases of fixtures (in SAP), accessed by all sites globally; change database structure and elements when needed. Must have a thorough working knowledge of manufacturing engineering programs and processes to directly impact end results.
Responsible for recording the manufacturing processes for fabrication and machining of parts, sub-assemblies and machine assemblies, with limited supervision. A thorough working knowledge of these processes is required to effectively document global procedures.
Lead the training of operators at global KMC sites and suppliers in the use of new tooling, welding methods or fixture use
Lead the creation of work instructions for identified processes, engaging manufacturing, quality, and engineering with limited supervision
Lead the creation of routers, using fabrication and machining standards. Must have a thorough understanding of specific manufacturing capabilities at each location KMC location.
Responsible for costing parts, using fabrication and machining standards and market data, for production in house, outsourced, and at best cost country suppliers
Design welding, machining and assembly fixtures to reduce manufacturing cost and lead time, and improve quality.
Support Design for Manufacturability and Assembly - engaging with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain. Cross-functional knowledge of engineering, quality, and supply chain processes required to influence across functions.

Predominant Tasks

Document manufacturing processes with models, drawings and text descriptions

Create and manipulate three-dimension drawings of parts to depict manufacturing processes

Research similar-to parts for existing methods and costs

Research parts, update costing and routings in SAP

Create and manipulate three-dimension drawings of fixtures

Process engineering changes for manufacturing drawings, routers, programs, and work instructions

Create plate burn profiles from engineering drawings

Initiate engineering change requests for drawing detail, clarity, and consistency; working with design engineering to close issues

Qualifications/Requirements

B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred or 10-15 years manufacturing experience.

Can organize, prioritize and track work requests from multiple sources from outside and inside the ME department

Written communication skills

Ability to express manufacturing concepts conversationally face to face, over the phone and in email

Ability to work with people on a manufacturing floor with a productive, non-combative nature
