Job summary
Pen is seeking a senior, hands-on Manufacturing Engineering & Estimating Manager to influence how we engineer, quote, launch and grow key customer programs. This role blends shop-floor activity with leadership, requiring deep experience in sheet metal fabrication, DFM, estimating, production planning, and customer collaboration.
You will review drawings, optimize manufacturability, build realistic estimates, plan routings and material needs, and guide first articles through ramp to repeatable
Qualifications
- 10+ years hands-on sheet metal fabrication or contract manufacturing experience.
- Deep knowledge of laser cutting, punching, press brake forming, welding and assembly.
- Strong estimating, costing and quoting capabilities for fabricated sheet metal.
- Hands-on DFM and manufacturing engineering experience; reads drawings and CAD models.
- Experience translating customer drawings to repeatable processes; comfortable on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimating and ensure quotes reflect material, labor, routing, tooling, and processing assumptions.
- Develop manufacturing plans, routings, and work instructions for new programs.
- Collaborate with sales and operations to release and schedule jobs on the floor.
- Review drawings/models for manufacturability and cost feasibility with customers.
- Support prototypes, first articles, and ramp production; drive continuous improvement.
