Job summary

Northwood Space is building a modern, in-house machining capability to support high-performance hardware for satellite ground stations. You will own the end-to-end process from selecting CNC equipment to designing shop layout, fixtures, and robust CAM programs.

This role blends hands-on machining with strategic capability build-out, including tooling, metrology, and continuous improvement on quality, cost, and lead time.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering/CNC roles.
• Experience with fixture/workholding design for repeatable production.
• Strong CAM programming with Fusion, Mastercam, or NX CAM.
• Hands-on shop floor experience: debugging and rapid iteration.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap to establish and scale an internal machine shop, including capability definition and procurement.
• Source, evaluate, and purchase CNC machines, workholding, tooling, and metrology.
• Coordinate machine delivery, installation, acceptance testing, and maintenance strategy.
• Design the shop layout, safety standards, and material/workflow processes.
• Create CAM programs and machining documentation; manage setups and inspection plans.
