Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Machining (Starship) in Hawthorne, CA. You will own manufacturing integration, optimize parts for assembly, and lead process improvements for next-gen vehicles.

The role requires a engineering or physics degree, 1+ years experiences in machine shops, and proficiency with CNCs; Master’s degree preferred. Competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and long-term stock incentives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or physics.
1+ years of machine shop experience.
Master's degree (preferred).
Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art machining equipment.
Proficiency with CNC programming (lathes and mills).
Strong GD&T and inspection knowledge.
Experience with metrology: CMMs, photogrammetry, 3D imaging.

Responsibilities

Develop in-house machining capability for Starship components and deliver high-quality parts.
Analyze parts for DFM to optimize manufacturing and assembly.
Maintain feedback loop with downstream operations for product success.
Review quality concerns and sign off on out-of-tolerance issues after investigation.
Identify, procure, and install machine shop equipment; ensure maintenance.
Support cost optimization and process improvements in fabrication.
Develop and improve manufacturing methodologies and techniques.
Suggest improvements in operation sequences and equipment use.
Collaborate with SpaceX machine shop facilities to address capacity and scheduling.
