Job summary

HSM, based in North Carolina, seeks a senior Manufacturing Engineer to partner with plant leaders and drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements. You will analyze OEE, throughput, scrap, and labor utilization and lead process design across materials and technologies.

You will apply lean manufacturing, standard work, line balancing, and problem solving while developing process flows, changeover methods, and capacity models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or related engineering.
• At least 10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience with ownership of significant process, equipment, automation, or capital projects.
• Demonstrated improvements in safety, quality, throughput, or cost in a production environment.
• Advanced working knowledge of lean manufacturing, standard work, line balancing, mistake proofing, and structured problem solving.
• Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC, capability analysis, PPAP, and launch/transfer readiness.

Responsibilities

• Partner with plant leaders to prioritize engineering initiatives based on safety, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and workforce needs.
• Analyze production performance (OEE, cycle time, throughput, scrap, downtime, labor utilization) to identify constraints and drive improvements.
• Lead process design, optimization, and standardization across materials and manufacturing technologies.
• Apply lean methods to improve flow, reduce variation, and prevent issues.
• Develop and validate process flows, standard work, setup parameters, changeover methods, and capacity models.
• Lead equipment, automation, and capital projects from business case through supplier selection, installation, validation, and sustained production.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, IT/Controls, suppliers, and integrators to manage scope, schedule, cost, and risks.
• Support product launches and production transfers by assessing manufacturability and equipment capability.
