Job summary

Saab, Inc. in Michigan is seeking a Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer to lead development, optimization, and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems.

You will drive safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements while guiding cross-functional teams from concept to production. You will apply Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven approaches, lead equipment selection and validation, and translate complex technical issues into strategic business impacts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s; or 3 years with a PhD; or equivalent.
• Strong experience in manufacturing process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to lead complex engineering projects from concept through implementation and production.
• Proficiency with engineering documentation, data analysis, and standard manufacturing engineering tools.
• Strong technical communication, presentation, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Independent judgment to determine appropriate engineering methods and evaluation criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discussions and align stakeholders with differing priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify needs and develop manufacturing solutions.
• Develop and improve manufacturing standards, procedures, and work instructions.
• Develop testing and validation methods for new/modified processes.
• Track project performance and address risks to maintain progress.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis methodologies.
• Lead equipment selection, installation, qualification, and validation.
• Optimize processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and OEE.
• Lead projects from concept to production launch and validation.
• Translate technical issues into business impacts and decisions.
• Evaluate processes to identify opportunities for improvements in capability and cost.
• Provide leadership and SME for manufacturing processes and projects.
• Use data to drive fact-based decisions and continuous improvement.
• Identify new technologies and best practices to enhance capabilities.
• Communicate status, risks, and results to leadership and stakeholders.
• Adapt communication style for engineers, operators, and executives.
