Job summary

General Stamping & Metalworks in South Bend, IN is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing process improvements, automation initiatives, and new product launches across our metal fabrication operations. You will drive safety, quality, productivity, and profitability while serving as a technical leader within the Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Welding, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a metal fabrication, stamping, welding, or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, GD&T, and blueprint reading.
• Experience leading process improvement and new product launch projects.
• Proficiency with CAD and manufacturing systems.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive new product launches from concept through production readiness.
• Design and improve tooling, fixtures, processes, and manufacturing systems.
• Analyze production data and implement solutions that improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Lead root cause problem solving and corrective action activities.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Manage capital equipment and automation projects.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Sales teams.
• Mentor engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and customer requirements.
