Job summary

Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to optimize processes, design tooling, and drive continuous improvement across production lines. You will provide engineering oversight to improve efficiency, quality and delivery while supporting core operations.

Qualifications include a BS in Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering, 5+ years in aerospace/defense, GD&T, DFMA/DFC, and CAD (Creo/SolidWorks).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years professional and relevant experience.
• Aerospace and Defense industry experience is desired.
• Experience in interpreting and applying GD&T.
• Experience applying DFMA and DFC principles.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate equipment and tooling performance to verify efficiency and process capability.
• Define assembly procedures and build sequences for operational efficiency.
• Drive adoption of new technologies across production lines.
• Analyze and troubleshoot processes to improve SQDC and manufacturability.
• Define materials, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing methods for safety and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment readiness.
• Provide hands-on support to resolve line-downs and sustain operations.
• Influence manufacturing strategy, layouts, tooling and processes.
• Manage CapEx projects and coordinate with vendors.
