Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC in the United States is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly to design, implement, and optimize high‑mix, low‑volume production lines while improving productivity, quality, and costs across the assembly floor.

You will collaborate with design, production, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability, apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and lead tooling and equipment procurement to enable efficient, safe, and scalable

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field.
  • 7+ years in manufacturing/production engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new manufacturing lines in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
  • Analyze and improve processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency and quality.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with product design to ensure manufacturability.
  • Lead tooling, fixtures, and equipment design and procurement.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and drive corrective actions.

Join the power movement as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly

We are seeking a detail-oriented, innovative, and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality across the production line. This role involves close collaboration with design engineers, production staff, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.

What you'll do:

- Develop and implement new manufacturing lines within a high-mix, low volume environment

- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and ensure product quality

- Develop and maintain process documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams

- Collaborate with product design and development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products

- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance production performance

- Lead the design and procurement of tools, fixtures, and equipment required for efficient production

- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions

- Conduct time and motion studies to determine optimal production methods and labor utilization

- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across the facility

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards

- Evaluate new technologies and automation solutions to enhance manufacturing capabilities

What we're looking for:

- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field

- 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role

- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality systems

- Proficient in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and manufacturing ERP systems

- Ability to balance autonomy with disciplined escalation

- Leadership through hands‑on engagement

- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills

- Strong communication and teamwork abilities

- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment

Bonus points for:

- Experience with clean lines

- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)

Must-have requirements:

- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs

- Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics

- Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time

Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefits. The actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
