Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing lines in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will drive process improvements, collaborate with design, QA, and supply chain, and lead tools and equipment upgrades for efficient production.

You will apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, maintain SOPs, and ensure quality and safety across the facility while leveraging CAD tools and ERP systems to enable scalable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role with Lean/Six Sigma focus.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and manufacturing ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new manufacturing lines within a high-mix, low-volume environment.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and ensure product quality.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including SOPs and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with product design and development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance production performance.
  • Lead the design and procurement of tools, fixtures, and equipment for production.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize production methods and labor utilization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across the facility.
  • Ensure safety compliance and adherence to policies and industry standards.
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation solutions to enhance capabilities.

Join the power movement as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly

We are seeking a detail-oriented, innovative, and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality across the production line. This role involves close collaboration with design engineers, production staff, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.

What you'll do:
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing lines within a high-mix, low volume environment

  • Lead the design and procurement of tools, fixtures, and equipment required for efficient production
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation solutions to enhance manufacturing capabilities
What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality systems
  • Proficient in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and manufacturing ERP systems
  • Ability to balance autonomy with disciplined escalation
  • Leadership through hands-on engagement
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Bonus points for:
  • Experience with clean lines
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
Must-have requirements:
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
Salary

$110,000 - $185,000 a year. Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefits. The actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
