Job summary

Lyten is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and optimization of pouch cell assembly processes. This role involves developing, documenting, and stabilizing manufacturing processes, ensuring safety and compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, at least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, and skills in CAD design and communication. The position offers a competitive salary and various benefits including equity and healthcare.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Assembly
Own the design and optimization of pouch cell assembly processes on the pilot line
About the Role

Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing pouch cell assembly processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Process Ownership & Maturation: Develop, document, and stabilize assembly processes specifically for pouch cell manufacturing.
  • Sustaining & Optimization: Monitor equipment performance, analyze process workflows, and introduce continuous improvements.
  • Data‑Driven Troubleshooting: Create, plan, and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) to understand the assembly processing window.
  • Adaptability to the Unknown: Operate in 'grey areas' where documentation may be incomplete; drive clarity and control.
  • Cross‑Functional Alignment: Collaborate with R&D, sourcing, and production teams to align pilot line operations with development schedules and cell integration targets. Mentor junior engineers.
  • Documentation: Develop and iterate SOPs, control plans, and specification requirements as the process matures.
  • Vendor Support (As Needed): Interface with equipment suppliers to resolve deep technical issues.
  • Reporting & Justification: Provide regular updates to engineering leadership; use data to recommend modifications or upgrades.
  • Safety & Compliance: Conduct risk assessments and adhere to safety regulations and policies.
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on engineering experience in manufacturing, pilot, or scale‑up environments.
  • Minimum 2 years working with battery cell stacking, notching, or assembly equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, GD&T, and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Track record of solving complex process engineering issues.
  • Strong desire to learn; adaptable to fast‑paced pilot line environments.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals, statistical concepts, data tools (Excel, MATLAB, JMP, Minitab).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document processes and present findings.
  • Expected to travel < 10%.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Wear personal protective equipment; no physical limitations to PPE use.
  • Collaborate well with team members.
  • Occasional work in a dry room setting.
Compensation

Base salary range: $128,200 – $192,400 per year. Additional incentives include tiered bonus, equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO, sick time, 401(k), and relocation plan (if applicable).
