Job Description Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Laser will provide technical development, process management, and technical support at BladeworX and for the Turbine Airfoils Value Stream (TAVS). In this role, you will lead the development, testing, and implementation of new technology at BladeworX and support rolling out these technologies to the TAVS shops (Auburn, Greenville, Madisonville, and Muskegon). You will also be a source for mentoring and training new process engineers throughout the value stream.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead Laser Technology advancement and implementation for 6 manufacturing facilities
  • Define and control production process including tooling and equipment
  • Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment
  • Develop new technology with new machines or improvements to existing processes to improve SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost)
  • Integrate and develop these process that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within Laser Ablation processing, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to overall business strategy
  • Plan, set up, and development of Laser processes
  • Manufacture HPT Blades across our Laser operations; including troubleshooting non-conformances and making the appropriate offsets
  • Analyze data, work cycles, optimizes production and material flows, solves technical problems
  • Own maintenance plans and ability to identify issues and correct them.
  • Assist tooling department with design, manufacturing, and assembly of fixtures
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Program Managers, Technical teams to support manufacturing and develop continuous improvement solutions
  • Provide guidance to new team members
  • Provide process and technical guidance to TAVS shops
  • Develop and capture technical problem-solving knowledge
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing experience

  • At least 10 years Manufacturing experience with Lasers, Optics, and/or related Physics
  • Laser and/or Optics subject matter experience
  • Research or Scientist studies/experience in lasers or other optical processes.
