Renaissance Services operates the “Rapid Cast Part – Center of Excellence” where it provides small quantities of parts made from castings for sustaining legacy systems as well as new development. The customers include the US Air Force as well as aerospace prime contractors.

As part of providing rapid cast parts, Renaissance addresses three key areas:

  • Reverse Engineering – Renaissance takes legacy parts that lack design data and creates the technical data package, including models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Additive Manufacturing - Renaissance uses ceramic additive manufacturing to create casting molds, greatly reducing the time and cost to create small quantities of castings.
  • Supply Chain Production – Renaissance works with its rapid casting network of multiple foundries and machining suppliers to produce the small quantity of parts.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer that likes working with the latest manufacturing technologies and turning conventional expectations upside-down. If you have a strong background in aerospace engineering and manufacturing, and you are passionate about making parts, this role is for you.

Technical Leadership & Process Optimization

  • Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of design/manufacturing processes for parts produced from castings.
  • Provide technical expertise in manufacturing methods, including investment casting, additive manufacturing, machining, and assembly.
  • Lead the development of reverse engineering efforts that result in the creation of complete MIL-STD-31000 technical data packages.

Problem Solving & Quality Assurance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges on the shop floor and supply chain.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of defects, implement corrective actions, and support zero-defect manufacturing initiatives.
  • Support the application of AS9102 first article inspection of parts produced by the supply chain.

Project & Operations Management

  • Manage new ceramic and cast part introductions, including production routings, bills of material, tooling & fixturing, and work instructions.
  • Oversee procurement and implementation of new equipment, materials, and tooling.
  • Ensure that technical data is shared with customers and suppliers in compliance with CMMC standards.
  • Act as a primary technical interface with customers and suppliers on part technical data package and manufacturing requirements.
  • Mentor and train engineers, technicians, and shop floor personnel, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Support the implementation of AS9100 quality management systems and participate in supplier audits and assessments.

Key Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in the aerospace & defense industry, and familiarity with the material and process specifications (AMS, ASTM, etc.) commonly used.
  • Deep understanding of aerospace materials (nickel, aluminum, titanium), manufacturing methods (3D-printing, casting, machining), and supply chains.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), CAD/CAM tools, 3D scanning tools, and ERP systems.
  • Experience with 3D model-based design, 2D engineering drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to address engineering challenges under tight deadlines.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, with 8+ years of relevant experience in aerospace manufacturing.

Other Job Elements

  • Renaissance Services is based in Fairborn, Ohio.
  • Hybrid work schedule – part time from home, part time in the office/plant.
  • Up to 20% travel to customer or supplier sites.
  • Renaissance offers complete benefits package.
  • The growth path for this position is to become manager or director of engineering.

Benefits & How to Apply

Benefits include a competitive base salary, as well as a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including 401k, attractive healthcare coverage, dental, vision, and employer-paid life insurance, ample paid time off, and a consistent hybrid-remote work schedule.
